• Bowl of Saki for November 26 THE HEART MUST BE EMPTY IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD.-- Hazrat Inayat Khan Commentary by Hazrat Samuel L. Lewis (Sufi Ahmed Murad Chisti): When personality is intrigued by the world it becomes intoxicated by name and form. This produces pleasure and pain. This produces rise and fall and all duality. • What would your family say if you married a non-Libyan? but still Muslim

    November 28, 2006 at 9:11pm

  • This world eats men and women; we become ground, and yet God sends us here to eat the whole universe. Earth tries to work a sorcery on us saying tomorrow, tomorrow, but we outwit that spell by enjoying this now. Say we were born from invisible beings that gather in the middle of the night. Say that's why we love the night so. We love, and taste the wine of being human, as fish drink the ocean. Do you think that alters the sea? Sea and see: how one values the Beloved depends on the state of ... Read More

  • www.bluinc.com Ten Rules for Being Human by Cherie Carter-Scott 1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it's yours to keep for the entire period. 2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called, "life." 3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work." 4. Lessons are repea... Read More

There's a place in my local shopping mall that serves jalepeno pretzels. I try to keep well away from it because they are pretty difficult to resist!

I'm not really a pretzel fan. After one bite I usually have had enough so I tend to stay away.

  • Bowl of Saki for November 25 IT IS ACCORDING TO THE EXTENT OF OUR CONSCIOUSNESS OF PRAYER THAT OUR PRAYER REACHES GOD.--Hazrat Inayat Khan Commentary by Hazrat Samuel L. Lewis (Sufi Ahmed Murad Chisti): The average person dependent upon mind -- even though he be a devotee -- cannot pierce the mind-mesh. As soon as one views life from the aspect of the relative non-reality of personality, all life and love enter the prayer. Then prayer becomes Ishk and mounts to the throne of God. -----------

  • An old man lived on a farm with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Quraan.. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could. One day the grandson asked, "Papa, I try to read the Quraan just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does readingthe Quraan do?" The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied... Read More

  • What is this you say? You know not of hot water? No way! It's all the rage in China for the past 5,000 years, the same. Its the reason reading the Dao De Ghing can be a mystery, and how Lao Tzu became a great teacher of history. The Dao, as spoken by masters of old, is eternally about cultivation. Cultivation of the spirit, of good habits, and physical inspiration. What does that mean, if not 'a healthy body leads to a healthy soul?' What is the good of any practice, if it does not lead to wellness ... Read More

  • I am at 35 K miles and think I need to get some new tires. I had heard that one of the tire companies has a new product out that is more durable and less apt to go flat or be damaged. Having had a flat in a driving rainstorm late at night, I'd rather not experience that again. Can anyone recommend some good tires that will be less susceptible to puncture etc.? I am willing to spend more if needed. Thanks in advance.

  • Bowl of Saki for November 24 GOD IS WITHIN YOU. YOU ARE GOD'S INSTRUMENT AND THROUGH YOU GOD EXPRESSES GOD'S SELF TO THE EXTERNAL WORLD.--Hazrat Inayat Khan Commentary by Hazrat Samuel L. Lewis (Sufi Ahmed Murad Chisti): How is *a priori* reasoning possible? How is *a posteriori* reasoning possible? There must be something beyond mind to do this. If mind is greater than reason, then mind is essence and mind can of itself apprehend all things -- then mind is creator and destroyer. In other words, Mind... Read More
