  • Something so hard goes straight to the soul; it seems impossible to get over and my heart is left with a big hole. I'm trying to be happy, wearing a smile; but I'm dying inside. The world seems to be fading, and I just want to run and hide. Everywhere I go I hear your voice, and realize how much I miss you; and on the day you died a piece of me died too.

Human DNA is like a computer program but far, far more advanced than any software we've ever created." • By Donald Macintyre in Jerusalem 22 February 2007 Around 46 per cent of Gaza and West Bank households are "food insecure" or in danger of becoming so, according to a UN report on the impact of conflict and the global boycott of the Hamas-led Palestinian Authority. The unpublished draft report, the first of its kind since the boycott was imposed when the Hamas government took office last March, says bluntly that the problem "is primarily a function of restricted economic access to food resulting from on... • Expressions of Love By Yosra Mostafa Oh, Marriage at last! To many people, marriage is a peaceful end to a long search for their soul mate, although life does not end here. A small addition would probably introduce a new range to our vision of understanding of this central stage in life. As a cradle for a newborn's life, marriage becomes a Continuous Journey of Learning and Development. Forever Learning! As marriage reaches the stage of responsibility, parents often wonder why children... Read More

  • FRUITY FACTS A portion of fruit is equivalent to roughly 80-100g, according to Nutritionists. That's the same as one generous slice of large fruits like pineapple or melon, half a medium fruit like grapefruit, or a whole orange, banana or pear. ~ BANANAS This fruit can help depression, and also has beneficial effects on digestion and ulcers. "Perhaps the ultimate fast food, bananas are understandably one of the most popular energy boosters. "They also contain tryptophan which the body can convert to seroton... Read More

  • Dr Susan Mendelsohn Psychologist Weight and eating difficulties are often a symptom of an underlying problem that you may be unaware of. It's not uncommon to struggle with this issue if you haven't learned effective ways of coping with everyday stress and other emotional setbacks. What I'm referring to is what I call emotional eating. This is when you eat to avoid something or to fill a void in your life that you can't cope with in a more constructive manner. Food will not satisfy your feelings in t... Read More

  • Israeli occupation launched war games on the occupied Golan Heights Wednesday in a bid to learn the lessons of last summer's aggression against Lebanon, War Minister Amir Peretz said. "Conducting these exercises in this area does not at all mean that they are connected to a possible conflict," Peretz told public radio, referring to media reports of impending military confrontation with Syria, from which the Jewish state seized the Golan in the 1967 Middle East war. "These exercises are the army's most importan... Read More

  • Pancake Power The pancake, a thin, flat cake made of batter and baked on a griddle or fried in a pan, is featured in cookbooks as far back as 1439. Pancake tossing is a serious pastime for some people. Pancakes are popular world wide - German and French pancakes, leavened by eggs and much beating, are baked very thin and served with sweet or savoury fillings. French Crepes are thin and crispy - A quick and easy Crepe Suzette is folded or rolled and heated in a sauce of butter, sugar, citrus juice. (My ... Read More

  • Salams All of you, There are many Quranic verses and Prophetic sayings that recommend certain Foods, such as Honey, Dates, Figs, Milk, and Olives, for their healing properties. The Qur'an mentions the healing properties of HONEY: "(And thy Lord inspired the bee, saying: Choose thou habitations in the hills and in the trees and in that which they thatch; Then eat of all fruits, and follow the ways of thy Lord, made smooth (for thee). There cometh forth from their bellies a drink divers of hues, wherein is... Read More

  • It should be more acceptable, and encouraged, for Arab women to marry outside of their respective community. Many Non-Arab Muslim men come in all shapes, sizes, cultures, colors, personalities, shoe size, hair-doos, with twisted and warped mental conditions, and anything else you can imagine. My advice: Take a bite outside the cookie and see if you can find that soft mushy sweet spot somewhere else.

  • Reflections on the Subjects of Philosophy, Psychology and Mysticism in the Teachings of Hazrat Inayat Khan by Hidayat Inayat-Khan As each word spoken in a dome must have an echo, so must all impulses within the akasha or accommodation of life have consequent effects, which, like seeds, are perpetuated in some way or other for all eternity.

  • Bowl of Saki for February 22 LIFE IS AN OPPORTUNITY GIVEN TO SATISFY THE HUNGER AND THIRST OF THE SOUL.--Hazrat Inayat Khan Commentary by Hazrat Samuel L. Lewis (Sufi Ahmed Murad Chisti): If the soul continued to exist only in the highest state, it would never experience hunger and thirst. This comes through the separation, its departure from its home, whence it passes through the phases of hunger and thirst. This is the theme of the opening of the "Masnavi," the allegory of the flute. After the soul ha... Read More
