One Hundred Years of Solitude

By Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Just thought that I'd mention this wonderful book I am reading at the moment.

just remember, while you are reading it, see how it runs parallel stories of the history of the world! different characters, but pretty much the same as the koranic-biblical stories.

Melquides and his fellow gypsies are by the way, symbolic of the Arabs who kept knowledge alive during the medieval ages.

It can be pretty heavy reading and I guess u do need to have some inkling of 'magical realism' which is why I am also reading Anybody Out There by Marian Keyes! :)

But depending on personal taste it is an admirable book with the capacity to fill one with awe and wonder and has a deserving place in my library.

Watch this space as I recommend books from chick lit to Tolstoy! :D

Good book but quite heavy. I couldn't read anything else for a whole week after I had finished it. I found his "Love in the time of Cholera" much more easier to digest.

Hi

I read this book back in high school and I really enjoyed it. I thought it was really strange but appreciated it more when I got older.
