  • This village seems to be quite dead from the last 3+ months.... I'm hoping there are still a few lingering members who'll recommend some stimulating reading worthy of a discussion or two. if anyone cares to share in their passion for the bleeding sore eyes, I'm all ears :)

  • Hijabs and High Heels By Pamela Windo In the 1980s and 1990s, when I lived in Marrakech, the headscarf was a simple affair. In Gueliz, the New Town, few women wore either a headscarf or a djellaba?an ankle-length hooded robe. In the Medina, or the old town, where a more traditional lifestyle was practiced, most women still wore a djellaba and a loosely-tied headscarf; only a few wore the hijab. In the countryside, the Berber women wore colorful skirts and headscarves while weeding the fields. I returned ... Read More

  • The City of God - 2002 This movie is...simply...perfect. Infernal Affairs - 2002 Inspiration for Scrosese's 'The Departed', only better 2046 - 2004 Slow moving story of a man stuck in his past.

Have you seen "In the Mood for Love" which is what 2046 is based on. In my opinion it's Wong Kar Wai's masterpiece along with Chung King Express. Check em out if you haven't a...

  • I am watching Oprah right now, and the episode is about eco-friendly activities and energy savings. She's making a big deal that she will use two less napkins a day, and if everyone uses two less napkins daily, it adds up to a lot. I agree. But, there's a much greater alternative people can start doing that has both eco-friendly and hygenic impacts: If everyone starts using Lotas it will save toilet paper usage per dump (No pun intended). I estimate that a person would use 10 times less toilet paper if he... Read More

  • If only ? I speak half-truths, afraid to let the whole out, afraid I?ll be swallowed by past mistakes, my usual missteps but I find you know what?s unspoken. I look in your eyes and know I don?t have to say anything if I don?t want to. You watch me closely during silences, holding back, afraid of being rejected. Watching the storm rage in my head you swallow your words, and kiss me hard. You live there too. You look in my eyes and know you don?t have to say anything if you don?t wan... Read More

  • Mohamad Shmaysani Hezbollah deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Kassem unveiled a decision by Washington to keep Fouad Saniora as "Prime Minister." Sheikh Kassem's words came as Lebanon is witnessing strained political wrangling and rows between the loyalty and opposition blocs over the guaranteeing one third of ministers in a national unity government. "We know exactly why you (loyalty) don't want the guaranteeing third. Two months ago, and I have to reveal this, one of the main figures in the country held ... Read More
