Lotas and energy savings!
I am watching Oprah right now, and the episode is about eco-friendly activities and energy savings. She's making a big deal that she will use two less napkins a day, and if everyone uses two less napkins daily, it adds up to a lot.
I agree. But, there's a much greater alternative people can start doing that has both eco-friendly and hygenic impacts: If everyone starts using Lotas it will save toilet paper usage per dump (No pun intended). I estimate that a person would use 10 times less toilet paper if he or she uses the Lota to do the bulk of the washing and use the toilet paper for drying purposes.
How much toilet paper would this save? According to the National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse, (NDDIC), the normal range is between three times a day and three times a week. It's also estimated, each person who only relies on toilet paper, consumes 39 lbs per year. If these people switch to Lotas, this will be reduced to 3.9lbs per person, per year.
This would lead to a reduction of several billion lbs of toilet paper waste per year.

Toilet paper, now think about the fraternity guys here who put the toilet paper in trees. Thats just sad, heh.
