  • Hey I don't know who's an endocrinologist out there or if this is mostly a primary care group, but I wanted to get some thoughts on your experiences with glargine insulin- especially as compared to some of the 70/30 insulin combos. I work mostly with the elderly and find some problems with the split doses and like the idea of single day coverage. What's been your practical experience and do any endocrinologists out there have a preference?

  • Romantics in the UK should woo their loved ones with flowers imported from Africa rather than those grown in Europe, a minister has said. International Development Secretary Hilary Benn asked consumers to aid "social justice" on Valentine's Day. Importing African flowers is better for the environment as they are not grown in heated greenhouses, he said. The European Federation of Professional Florist Associations called Mr Benn's argument "very strange". 'Do their bit' The minister told a sus... Read More

  • Reflections on the Subjects of Philosophy, Psychology and Mysticism in the Teachings of Hazrat Inayat Khan by Hidayat Inayat-Khan All that is called either wrong or right, good or bad, must be evaluated according to the motive behind the act. When seeing from this point of view one understands how fragile judgments are. Furthermore, there is always a divine purpose acting behind our motive, although we are not always conscious of it and do not necessarily co-operate with it.

  • I have now been unemployed since January 17th. My supervisor asked me to come in for a meeting while another supervisor was packing my things. I was met at the door with the dreaded white box after two years of service. I am not writing this because of the loss of my job. Yes, money and health insurance was great. There were costs to pay though. High stress due to political climate (office climate). People coming down with everything because of the building and people's refusal to use antibacterial stat... • observer.guardian.co.uk The new Jewish question A furious row has been raging in the international Jewish community over the rights and wrongs of criticising Israel. At its centre is a British historian who accuses his fellow Jews in the US of stifling any debate about Israel. His opponents say his views give succour to anti-Semites. One thing's for sure: any appearance of consensus over the Middle East has been shattered. Gaby Wood Sunday February 11, 2007 The... Read More

  • IDT as Science >> Nevertheless, since you mentioned reading and agreeing with the refutations of various adversaries of Behe?s claims, you overlooked one minor yet a crucial detail of this debate, viz, by them so-called systematically falsifying Behe?s arguments they actually PROVED the falsifiability of Behe?s claims, hence scientific, basically the opposite of what wanted to prove! ? Now let us turn the table and ask: How could one falsify the claim that a particular biochemical system was produced b... Read More
