Chopping Block

I have now been unemployed since January 17th. My supervisor asked me to come in for a meeting while another supervisor was packing my things. I was met at the door with the dreaded white box after two years of service.

I am not writing this because of the loss of my job. Yes, money and health insurance was great. There were costs to pay though. High stress due to political climate (office climate). People coming down with everything because of the building and people's refusal to use antibacterial stations.

It is the way I lost it. Now there are people being let go from there on a daily basis I hear. I was the first though. They take you to a room for a meeting. Have someone else go through and pack your things. Then thats it. I had spent money to organize my materials, not office money. I didn't get that stuff back.

The fact that I covered just recently makes it an even more bitter pill to swallow. I know this is not why I was let go..........but the questions and harrassment from a couple individuals did not make me feel like I was welcomed where I worked anymore.

Okay well I am done for the nite. Sorry bout the rant. Tomorrow is another day of hitting the pavement. Inshaallah I will find something soon.

My last name was enough for some people not to even call me for an interview when I've worked in my field for 13+ years now and I'm on top of my game.

It's their loss, Snovi.

I haven't found squat!!!!!! What is even better is I have had some really incredible interviews and tests. I've gone in and scored great on tests that have been sent to the next level. The over the fone interviews always lead to something face to face. Then the shock of my hijab hits them in the stomach like a brick! ARGH.

I actually had one lady say over the fone. "I can't wait to meet you. You sound exactly like what we are looking for."

It wasn't a position that required a customer see me, it was over the fone work. When she came out in the lobby to get me for the face to face. She asked the receptionist, "Well where is she?"

The receptionist had to point me out twice. HELLO. I rcvd a letter stating they were glad to have met me but were looking for othe canidates! If you could have seen her face.
