Reflections on the Subjects of Philosophy, Psychology and Mysticism in the Teachings of Hazrat Inayat Khan by Hidayat Inayat-Khan ----------------------- The inner life is not contrary to worldly life, but is life lived in all its fullness, making God a reality in the midst of one's worldly responsibilities, awakening to the beauty which is in all things of this world, and forgetting one's self in contemplation of the all-pervading Divine wisdom.

Read More

Bowl of Saki for March 29 ACCORDING TO HIS EVOLUTION, MAN KNOWS TRUTH.--Hazrat Inayat Khan Commentary by Hazrat Samuel L. Lewis (Sufi Ahmed Murad Chisti): That is to say, as his heart opens. Until this occurs, there may be knowledge of names and forms -- this is not Truth. Until this occurs, one may be kind to everybody and have friends or disciples or happiness, but this is not Truth. All these are passing fancies whether of the seeming essence of knowledge or love. Until the mind-mesh is pierced and ... Read More

Myths and Misconceptions about Sexual Harassment Myth: Some people ask to be sexually harassed. They do this with how they dress, or how they act. They send "signals." Reality: Being subjected to sexual harassment is a painful, difficult, and frequently traumatic experience. Defenses such as "she wore provocative clothes" and "he enjoyed it" are neither acceptable nor accurate. Myth: If a person really wanted to discourage, or stop, sexual harassment, they could. Reality: Often, the harasser is... Read More

Read More

Please can anybody comment and give a better translation or interpretation of Koran 4:34, too many 'so called' muslim men find this a justification for women's abuse: Koran 4:34 Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat t... Salaams all, Q- What do you do in your home/office community to promote recycling? As muslims, i'm sure we're all focused on our own personal struggles in adapting to the culture and climate of the states. i think coming together and participating on this worldwide issue is positive and proactive, not only within our own religious communities, but also showing us in a better light amongst non-muslims. I'd like to get a group together in dc (even tho i m in ca) to "meet" and discuss ways to improve curre... Read More
