Sometimes we get so used to being in the 'victim' role that being free can bring its own kind of terror. Its the goosebumps on your skin when you know that you are steering your own boat through the treacherous waters. What we have to understand is that being scared is ok- as long as we dont let the feeling prevent us from paddling. I guess one way of looking at it could be that either we brave the storms and paddle hard or allow ourselves to drown. As tempting as letting the water just overpower you is, keep your focus on something you will do or someone worth living when you reach the shore. Maybe its the face of a loved one, maybe its the thought that you yourself mean something and make a difference in someone's life or just the image of you basking in the sun. All of us need that to go beyond the orbit of despair, hopelessless and anguish.

So many times you hear people warn you of the red flags that herald disaster...yet so often we dont heed them.. We just have to make sure we dont let history repeat itself and be oblivious to those signs...

i agree, I think it takes a lot of courage to step up and actually point out reg flags to your friends. It may seem unpleasant to them and they may not want to hear but I think true friends would care more about your future and well being than anything else.

I think the first step towards healing is recognition of who we are. For so long we have identified ourselves with another person's identity, so before entering into another relationship we should know and feel comfortable with who we are
