SA-EARTHQUAKE

So it turns out there are actually 2 villages addressing the Earthquake Relief Efforts...

DisasterRelief..

and this one

SA-EARTHQUAKE - focusing only on the South Asian Earthquake

Given people are not still not doing as much as they could either due to lack of knowledge of where to even start or plain indifference we thought it best to just keep both villages running.. in the future just post whatever you've got in BOTH places. Yes it is repetitive but perhaps it'll also increase the chances more people actually see the info too!

Please please pass on all the you info you learn of to everyone you know...not just the Pakistani or Muslim community. I think most of us already know and are doing what we can but there's a world of people out there who do actually care and would love to help out too but they have no idea whom to even ask!?

................................... .......................

I though it?d be good to have a place where we could share all the latest info about who?s doing what and where..

That?s very nice you got stuff going on your little profile & village journals..But honestly who the hell has time to go through all that to find the info they need??

One place, fast and simple & to the point.

To keep things in order and make all the info easily searchable and available to everyone I suggest sticking to the following format for each new entry:

For each new post use:

Country:State:City:Organization:wha t you?re doing!:When

i.e. your journal subject could be

USA:California:Los Angeles:Hoap:collecting donations/need volunteers etc:Nov 7-8

Something like that and then of course list all the details, contact info etc..in the journal entry.

Also grab any articles or info about the relief efforts, resources..whatever you find out there that could help and post them here too!

You could also use this village to discuss different ideas and efforts that you may have used in your area that either worked or didn't... problems you're facing in with your local community in trying to get people more involved, what did you do? How did you solve it? etc

Perhaps we call all learn from each other, combine our resources, get more organized and inspire others to do the same.

This village is open to everyone ..you should be able to join on your own. Just start posting whatever you've got. If you are not connected or cannot read someone else's post here.. just ask: [email protected]

The National Commission for Human Development, with support from the United Nations Foundation, invites you to a Gala Fundraising Event.

It has been one year since a devastating earthquake destroyed the lives of thousands of Pakistanis. In the past twelve months, NCHD has made impressive gains in re-establishing basic necessities of healthcare and education to the victims of the earthquake. In addition, NCHD has continued to grow in its mission to bring these same necessities to every district in Pakistan. But, there is still much work to be done.

Please join us on September 16th, 2006, as we reflect on our successes over the past year and discuss the challenges ahead.

Tickets are $100 and can be reserved by emailing [email protected].

Please also consider making a donation if you cannot attend. Please send checks to:
