The Islamic Center at New York University invites you to join us in a mission to establish the next generation of Islam in America within the heart of one of America's largest and most diverse cities. Our endeavor ultimately seeks to establish a lasting institutional presence at the heart of the NYU campus through the acquisition of permanent facilities that will enable us to expand our activities and increase our reach. In this regard, the Islamic Center at NYU and the Islamic Center at NYU Alumni Association have embarked on a fundraising campaign aimed towards reaching the following objectives:


Short-Term Objective:
To finance a bridge-space lease accommodating student and local community prayer needs over the next five years:
· Based on lease costs for the current Islamic Center space estimated at $40,000 per year, approximately $200,000 is needed to lease a prayer space as we work to acquire funds towards our long-term objective.

Long-Term Objective:
To acquire permanent facilities commensurate with our needs on the NYU campus:
· Provide an expanded Masjid/prayer space open to the downtown Manhattan community.
· Incorporate other accommodations towards establishment of a true "Islamic Center," including a library and quiet study area, a student lounge, classrooms, meeting halls and gender segregated exercise areas.
· Create a position for a full-time Islamic chaplain to guide and instruct students and local community members, as well as interface with the University administration.
· Based on NYU Office of Development estimates, approximately $6.5 million is necessary for all building and chaplain costs, as well as endowments.
