McDesis

Thought it was time to get a village going for us Scottish Desi's on Naseeb.

Hopefully, it will be a great place to keep up to date with all thats happening in Scotland.

So if anyone is aware of any events ranging from Charity Dinners, Islamic Events, Mela's, Fashion Shows, Bhangra's, Concerts or even the opening of new restuarants or shops or anything else concerning us Desi's then keep us posted!!

As salaamu alaikum

It?s that time of year again, when families are allocating where their Qurbani is to be directed to.

One much neglected area is right on our own doorsteps, and what does Islam say about looking after those close to you?

Masjid Al-Furqan are again this year collecting Qurbanis for distribution amongst Glasgow?s homeless people and refugees.

They?ll be organising an Eid Celebration at the mosque which will be advertised through the Big Issue for those in need to come. Additionally, they?ll be working with charities like Barnardo?s to get the meat out via their networks, while also sending some to the Dungavel Detention Centre.

This will insha allah generate media coverage which will place Islam in a positive light, contributing positively to our local communities.

Cost per Qurbani is ?85. This can be done in 3 ways:

In person by visiting the mosque by Monday 16th December
Post cheques made payable to ?UKIM? to Masjid Al-Furqan 19 Carrington St Glasgow, G4 9AJ. Please write your name, phone number and ?Glasgow homeless and refugee qurbani appeal? on the back.
Bank transfer to the Scottish-Islamic Foundation, Sort Code 80-05-64, Account number 00329344, marking it with your full name and ?Qurbani appeal?. If you are doing this, please send an email afterwards to [email protected] with your name, phone number and how many Qurbanis you have put in.

Eid mubarak to you and your families.
