I am new to this site and joined in search of new Muslims. I am a 22 year old Mexican-American Muslimah and have been since the age of seven. I have many questions as to what nationality I am. I usually get Puerto Rican, Egyptian, Pakistani and I've even gotten Asian. People are very surprised to hear that I am a Latina Muslimah. I get tons of questions, but people are just curious and want to hear my story. While most of my experiences are positive, I have had some negative ones as well. I once had a guy tell me to "Go back to my country" and I asked him which Country he thought I was from, and because he just assumed I was Middle Eastern. So once I told him that I was actually born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska and I was Mexican-American, he turned red and quickly walked off.

As far as the Hispanic community goes, they are very curious. I have spent hours with many of my friends answering questions that they had. I have never received any bad remarks from them or any negativity. I have had many random people come up to me and ask me if I'm Hispanic and then ask why I wear a scarf. I have never had them try to talk me out of Islam, Alhamdulliah they are very respectful.

I was born in Mexico. I have not had any real bad or good experience among my fellow latinos. Nothing exciting to report. People just let me be.

I was wondering other peoples experiences with the other ethnic groups. Some groups I find just to be annoying. Is that wrong. I know stereotyping is wrong but if the shoe fits. Also has anyone else married into another culture. How is that going?

no biggie, no one else talks in all the othergroups i'm in. You can't expect to talk about one subject forever. Here we have a lack of subjects.
