Naah not at all. Its definitely not to prove you right or wrong TG. Thats not why I created this Urdu village yaar. You are missing the whole pojntyaar. The idea was always to have a set of dialogues and reflections on the poetry, poets, their works and all (if you may recall). Very such few opportunties come up and I have done that in the past too.

As a matter of fact I was about to come to the subject of melodrama being in excess in our desi literautre, poetry, movies, stories, tales etc. That always has been a point of my discussion even in the other village. But anyway...

You are absolutely right when you say art is a matter of reflection and more than anything our own individual perceptions. I agree 100%. Its also to do how sensitive or desenstized one is when it comes to urdu shayeri.

4th sher

"Aur Tere Mashware Ke Khuloos Per
Mujhe Tarq e Ishq Qabool Hai
Magar Aik Baat Hai Hum-Nasheen
Meri Zindagi Ka Sawaal Hai"

Mashwara = suggestion
Khaloos = Sincerity
Tarq (Tarrk) = end, quit
Hum Nasheen = Jo sath rehta ho, co occupant

All he is saying that in all sincerity of you suggesting, I am ready to honour and end this relationship...but...his last attempt or last statment is not at all resentful or envious but rather very innocently the poet is saying keh meri zindagi ka sawal hai. Just stating that please do not treat this casually as it means a lot to him. Thats it.

3rd. sher

"Jo Guzer Rehi Hai Guzaar Lo
Na Bura Kaho Na Gila Karo
Jo Tumhara Haal Hai Dosto
Wohi Sare Sheher Ka Haal Hai"

Simple one. Zamanay ki baat kar raha hai shayer. In other words jo thoRa bhi mil jaye ussay ghaneemat samjho aaj kal ke zamanay meiN.

No resentment or jealousy

2nd. sher

Straight forward sher hai.
Talkh = bitter
Nawaiyan = (baataiN) or rather "salook" (I think)
Hosla = Capacity (also resolution)

I dont think theres any resentment or jealousy in this sher too

Before I start with my "bhashan" lol...let us really go through the above ghazal and see how much resentment and jealousy we find.

1st sher
"Wo Nazar Se Door To Hai Magar
Yeh Ajeeb Soorat e Haal Hai
Hamma Waqt Pesh e Nazar Bhi Hai
Na Firaq Hai Na Wisal Hai"

Same like Hari Haran singing "saamne nahin yeh alag baat hai, mere paas hai tu" or for that matter Leo sayer's "When I need love, I hold out my hand and I touch love".

Hamma waqt = simultaneously
Pesh e nazar = nazar ke saamne
Firaq = doori, bichRe huwe
Wisal = milaap

No resentment / jealousy

Are you posting in the right VE? Thres hardly any resentment or jealousy in the above poem. If yours is a general question about Urdu literature, then let me give my 2 cents in my upcoming comment.

In the meantime ek sher yaad aa raha hai though not sure of the exact words

Tum ne dekhi he nahiN garmi e rukhsaar e haya

Hum ne iss aag meiN ghar jalte dekha hai
