thanks folks for sharing fun activities

hmm....looks like this village need to be AMHP-lified for folks to enjoy plethora of cool activities in DC!

SPeaking of AMHP, anyone is welcomed to register to the cool, hip networking event in DC on Feb. 24th as posted in this village dated Jan. 26, 2007. Don't have to be involved in a health profession as the core mission of AMHP is public health as after all any issues ranging from hiking retreats to fun'n'games is definitely a public health issue :)

Another event that I can suggest is on Tuesday Feb 20th @ the Kennedy center. The program however starts @ 6:00 PM sharp and finishes by 7:00, So it may not be the best thing to do for people not working in DC.

The TABADOL Project
Taking its name from the Arabic word for ?exchange,? The Tabadol Project is part of the Performing Artists Cultural Visitors Program, a U.S. Department of State initiative to build and strengthen relationships among diverse world cultures. For the project?s premiere presentation on the Millennium Stage, jazz musician Gene Coleman works with Lebanese artists Raed Yassin, Mazen Kerbaj, Christine Sehnaoui, and Ziad Ahmadieh to create a multimedia performance blending traditional and contemporary styles. Presented by the Kennedy Center and the U.S. Department of State.

Incase anyone is interested, the tickets are usually all gone 1/2 hour before the event so its best to be there atleast 45 min early.

Stray Dogs
Friday, February 16, 2007, 7 pm, Meyer Auditorium
Sunday, February 18, 2007, 2 pm, Meyer Auditorium
Gol-Ghotai and Zahed - brother and sister - rescue a stray dog on the streets of Kabul. That evening they visit the jail where their mother is a prisoner. Since her children have nowhere to live, they are permitted to stay with her at night, but the following morning they are thrown out. Desperate to return to the jail, they embark on a series of failed robberies. A fugitive tells them they can learn to steal by watching Hollywood movies. Alternatively, European cinema can teach them how to be caught. 2004 / 92 min / Persian with English subtitles. Part of the Freer's Iranian Film Festival 2007.

thx for the update.

wait- so u guys only get together in the summers now? that's sad. it's such a different culture out west. if anyone wishes to venture over, i personally recommend it.

i'm in what feels like a completely new universe. my career was kind of flip floppy for a while (but when isn't it?). i accepted an opprotunity to work for stanford back in november and i luv my job!

i still consider md home and am always excited to hear from old crew. i do miss not being able to drive to other states as easily, so it's odd to go on vaca, drive 3-4 hours, feel like yer in another place completely, but still sit right here in ca!

i do plan to come home in a couple of weeks to visit my folks. does anyone know if guru is out at the hindi cinemas over there? i'm thinkin to go with a group thurs. night. most likely laurel. if anyone wants to come with, lemme know.

AH.

UF: Will do. Let me start working on that.

On another note: I did not know about the protest march in DC last weekend. That would have been a change for most of us, and we would have had our pictures taken - secretly - free of charge, courtesy intelligence agencies. Oops. I was not supposed to say that.
