Speaking of a morning run, if you want a real spirit booster, try going out for a hard run (say, your best 1 mile timed trial) on the track in the dark at 4:00am, no matter how cold it is. Of course, don't slaughter yourself in an excruciating blizzard or something; rather, let the elements be challenging but endurable. I like to do this exercise near my peak about 2-3 weeks before a race. Not only does the timed trial give an estimate on how I would fare in a middle distance race but also a trial against the elements (darkness, morning, cold, your brain, etc.) strengthens mental toughness. Come what may, run I shall!

My weekly mileage depends on the race that I train for: 30-40 miles/week for 5K, 40-50 miles/week for 10K, and around 65 miles/week for marathon. At this time, I am running 30 miles/week for a 5K. Generally, I run 6 days/week, in the evenings on weekdays and in the mornings on weekends. For 5K, I do a long run on a weekday so that I can do a weekly interval workout on the track when it is free of high school teens early in the morning on the weekend. In others weeks, I replace interval workout with tempo run or hill training.

I get in ~30 miles a week, never weekends though, that's relaxing time. No mornings either, I love sleep too much. Ramadan running is a pain though.
