Upside Down Nightmare

Wait for the pic...

I made an upside pineapple cake (from scratch) yesterday , I was horrified at what a difficult time I had making it. I never had a knack for making dessert. I'm assuming it's probably because I don't have much of a sweet tooth. But, this little adventure I embarked on yesterday was a total nightmare. I could not find the canned cherries that go in the center of each pineapple slice so picked them out of the can of mixed fruit cocktail and well only found 4 halves (as you can see in the pic)...sigh. How the heck do you turn it over once it is done?! As you can see I barely managed that!

Now tell me what item of food do you find a nightmare to cook/bake?

1) Couldn't find them...gave up after the second grocery store, used grape halves for the other 4 LOL :P

2) I did use brown sugar...good point

3)Oh wow...what a great idea...I just dumped the juice after I drained the pineapples

4) Fav. tip of all...sounds delicious!!

What great tips! Thanks! You almost made me want to have a go at making this cake again...hey I said almost! I think I need couple of months to get over this experience. :P

Yummy this is the first cake I made when I was 14. I like that. Point taken I'll stay tuned for the pic. ;)

:D Sumna, Congrats for your cake ! it looks delicious!!!:P

Tips:
1. Its best to buy a can of cherries.

2. To make your caramel its best to use brown sugar cse this sugar has a nice colouring and that will take lesser time to obtain your golden caramel.

3. When you buy a can of pineapple, keep aside the juice. You can pour some in the cake (dough) and also you can use the rest to make your caramel.
The juice will reinforce the flavour of your cake and caramel.

4. Also You can keep aside 2 slices of pineapple that you will blend or squash (with a fork) then add it to your dough.

Hehee, all these tips were given by my Bro. I taught him how to make that cake...and over the years he's improved the making of this yummy pineapple cake. Men can trully bake exquisite cakes :) ;) P: .
