A Khalil Bendib Cartoon Exhibit

Khalil Bendib, a Berkeley, CA resident, who grew up in Morrocco and Algeria is said to be one of the most visible Muslim Arab fine artists working today in the USA. Mr. Bendib is a political cartoonist and a professional sculptor/ceramicist whose artworks are, but not limited to, the Deir Yassin Remembered Memorial Sculpture at the Hobart and Smith Colleges in Upstate New York, and the collaboration of the 40 feet x 40 feet mural for the Arab Cultural & Community Center in San Francisco. On Thursday, February 8th at 6:30 pm the ACCC is proud to present a special slide show presentation by Khalil Bendib including a live drawing demonstration followed by Question & Answer. Here's a fun event for you nature lovers. Keeping Lake Merritt clean depends on you. Each month, thousands of pounds of trash accumulate in Lake Merritt. It is removed by environmentally conscientious people like you. The Lake Merritt Institute provides gloves, custom made nets, several pairs of hip waders (sizes 7 - 11), trash bags, and trash cans. For new volunteers, an educational presentation is given. Maps showing the area of shoreline to be cleaned are also furnished, and we give instruction on "Netscoop". Please wear clothes that are comfortable and that you don't mind getting dirty.

Our guests are mostly unemployed, underemployed, or living on small pensions. Our primary duties include food preparation, meal serving and clean up. St. Vincent de Paul regularly receives a large donation of unassembled, beautiful furniture from a generous manufacturer. Volunteers are needed to assemble furniture for sale in their thrift stores in their warehouse in East Oakland. This furniture helps to generate funds to continue their work for the hungry and homeless in Alameda County. All the necessary tools and know-how are provided. We just need enthusiastic volunteers. (This is also great practice if you want to know how to assembly Ikea-type furniture for your own home!) Lunch is provided on-site and we can go out for dessert afterward. Further details to be provided to RSVP'ers. There is also an additional neighborhood cleanup project being organized by St. Vincent de Paul at their Downtown Oakland facility. We have been invited to send a few of our volunteers to help. This project starts at 1:15 pm that afternoon. Directions and task assignments will be provided on the day of the activity for those interested.

He was able to provide more in depth insights and opinions on the events happening not only in Iran but all fo the Middle East. While all present were not in agreement with all of his opinions/assumptions, people were able to come away with more knowledge and insight on this topic.

Event Summary: Close to 100 people came out to hear about the San Jose Fire Department and the rights and responsibilites that Muslims have to the environement. Fire Chief Darryl von Raesfeld gave an overview of the operations of the SJFD as well as some helpful life saving tips that all people could implement in their homes. Sr. Ameena Jandali and I gave talk, video summary and handouts of ways to help preserve the environment for future generations. This talk will be given again as part of the AMILA Gathering on March 10, 2007.

Khalil Bendib, a Berkeley, CA resident, who grew up in Morrocco and Algeria is said to be one of the most visible Muslim Arab fine artists working today in the USA. Mr. Bendib is a political cartoonist and a professional sculptor/ceramicist whose artworks are, but not limited to, the Deir Yassin Remembered Memorial Sculpture at the Hobart and Smith Colleges in Upstate New York, and the collaboration of the 40 feet x 40 feet mural for the Arab Cultural & Community Center in San Francisco. St. Vincent de Paul regularly receives a large donation of unassembled, beautiful furniture from a generous manufacturer. Volunteers are needed to assemble furniture for sale in their thrift stores in their warehouse in East Oakland. This furniture helps to generate funds to continue their work for the hungry and homeless in Alameda County. All the necessary tools and know-how are provided. We just need enthusiastic volunteers. (This is also great practice if you want to know how to assembly Ikea-type furniture for your own home!) Lunch is provided on-site and we can go out for dessert afterward. Further details to be provided to RSVP'ers. There is also an additional neighborhood cleanup project being organized by St. Vincent de Paul at their Downtown Oakland facility. About the Speaker: Sadullah Khan is currently the Executive Director of Religious Affairs at the Islamic Center of Irvine, California. Originally from South Africa, he was a student leader active in the anti-apartheid struggle. Sh. Khan has been a public speaker since the age of 12, a public reciter of Quran since age 6. He completed studies in Law at University of Durban, South Africa, Journalism (UK) and Islamic Studies at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt.

Asalaam'alaikum Everyone, I hope you are doing fine by the grace of Allah (SWT), ICPD cordially invite's you along with your families to join us for the family night of the Islamic Center of Pleasanton-Dublin. We would like to welcome back the families who have come back from Hajj, May Allah (SWT) accept you Hajj. Please make time and try to attend this Family night as this one has lot of useful info on the ICPD (MCC) construction project. We will do a presentation on the vision of MCC and also inform about the progress we made and where we are today. We will try to address some of your questions.
