Mrs Hanim Goren, the mother of Tulay (the victim of the honour killing) has had death threats for breaking the silent code of her traditional Turkish family.
''Tulay did not simply vanish into thin air that day. If she were alive I know she would, without any doubt, have found a way of making contact with us''.
''My mother cannot think about anything apart from how different her life will be from now on''.
''Throughout her married life it was expected that she would behave as a loyal wife''.
''In taking this action, she has confronted and accused the men of our family''.
''No one should fail to realise what this means within our culture. These people do not forget''.

''Let them know that like us they will be listened to and taken seriously... and that as a result no more Tulays will fall victim to this primitive custom.''
Bravery of wife who spoke out Mrs Hanim Goren was convinced her husband had murdered their daughter Tulay in the name of 'honour'. But petrified of the violent and abusive Mehmet Goren, for years she dared not speak out.
''Even in court she screamed at him: ''Look at my face. What did you do to Tulay? Say it, say it!
''Now, with the end of the trial, there is only one thing Mrs Goren wants - to bury Tulay, whose body has never been found, next to her younger sister Hitace, who died in a car accident in 2006.
''I want the police to find a piece of Tulay's bones so I know, and so I can bury her,'' she said.
''Then I will know there is something there I can pray to.''
Mrs Goren finally got what she had waited ten years for -justice for her daughter. She had received death threats in the weeks before Goren's trial for breaking the silent code of her traditional Turkish family. But she bravely decided to make a stand.
