Translated (Punjabi nazm)

Munir Niazi wrote great shayeri in Punjabi too. Here is a rough translation in Urdu (to the best of my abilities) of a very popular and one of his best nazms:

Kis ka qasur tha? kis ka nahiN tha?
Ab yeh baat karne wali nahiN
Tauba ka waqt tou gaya
RaataiN ab hookaiN bharne wali nahiN

Jo huwa, woh tou hona he tha
Honay wali baat Talti nahiN
Ek dafa jub shuru ho jaye
Tou baat phir aise he khatam nahiN hoti

Kuch uss ke raaste bhi TeRhe thai
Kuch baat bhi afsos ki thi
Kuch sheher ke log bhi zaalim thai
Kuch mujhe marna ka shauq bhi tha

- Munir Niazi

(The original poem in Punjabi is below)

Kis da dosh se kis da nahin se
Ay galan hun karan dian nahin
Weley lang gaye hun toba waley
Raatan hun hokey paran dian nahin

Jo hoya tey ay hona he se
Tey honian rokey rukdian nahin
Aik waree jadon shooro ho jawey
Tey gal fir awain mukdee nahin

Kuj unj we rawan aukhian se
Kuj gal wich gum da toq we se
Kuj sheher dey loq we zalim san
Kuj manoo maran da shoq wee see

Thanks Asra

That was the only line about which I had a doubt and so wrote to you.

Horizon I'm sorry but have been away so didn't read the journal.

The last stanza is one of my favorites and this is how I translate the 2nd verse in it:

Kuj gal wich gum da toq we se
basically means that I was chocking with hurt and tears....so Kuch baat bhi afsos ki thi isn't the correct translation.
