Tourist question - which is the best bus tour?


I'll be visiting London next spring. I have been looking into open top bus tours. Which is better ? Big Bus Tour or the Original Bus Tour?

good idea nas.. although if you're planning to go to greenwich (which is beautiful), you'll need a zones 1-4 travelcard

On a more serious note, if you do get a travel card, you can also travel on the underground and see some of the well known (for their architecture) underground stations, like westminister and canary wharf - and also take a ride on the DLR which goes from greenwich (cuttysark) to canary wharf and beyond!

you can try cycling and following theno.8 route - just steal a bike from stratford or bow when noones looking - make sure it'snot raining though.

might take jamal on one of the tours one day then. i think its a ?1 if you have an oyster card. fares in london are real steep!

lol @ angel_a . i guess it depends on where you get on the bus 8! bus 38 also goes through town..

you should buy a one day travelcard for about a fiver i think (zones 1 and 2) which enables you to hop on and off unlimited trains and buses within these zones.. the main sights are within these zones

dont try the number 8 bus...you'll be squashed like a sardine in a tin and would only see other peoples feet.

There was a scam program on the other night telling the public about the tourist bus scam. They were selling bus tour tickets in uniform and a false id card and even had a bus board with a timetable up. but no bus tour was really available.
lesson to be learnt is only buy your tickets from an office based ticket shop. not from the street.

yes they allow you hop on and off as many times you want in a day.

I heard the best way to use those is to get in on it in the morning on a sunny day. I think they let you hop on and off of it for a day or something like that. I haven't tried it yet... but i would like to next year, iA.

I've been fortunate to often have a guided tour by local friends so far :)

hmmm i have to say as a Londoner, i've never used the bus tours so wouldn't really know - sorry! However from the top of my head, the Original Bus Tours is the one which sounds the most familiar to me!
