things to do in fremont?
just moved to fremont and acquainting myself with the area. thus far we found shalimar and naz cinema...and fry's.
but what else is around here that fun to do, shop at or see?

and i'm definately up for ice skating. i miss that from back home. anyone still going on the weekends?
anwar- thanx for the zaytuna posting, i took classes there this past summer on the weekends and went on a couple hiking trips. nice group of peoples, but i'd like to explore this part of the bay more.
great place to rollerblade, bike, walk, or barbecue with the entire family and the entire community....
Well... let's see. Zaytuna (frequented by Imam Zaid Shakir, Shaykh Hamza Yusuf and many other nice knowlegable brothers and sisters) is just a hop skip and a jump away from Freemont(14 miles). Whenever I'm in the bay area I find great joy in going there. They have many nice things going on there year-round. Some things are announced on zaytuna.org but some aren't. So it's worth just dropping by there every once in a while. It is a little tricky to find (it's just after an underpass on jackston street) but well worth the effort.

You are right BigK - Fry's is pretty self containing.
However Sitara - there are many many other things to do as well.
Several masaajid - I think there may even be a women's masjid set up by an Afghan lady.
There is also Mission Peak which you must climb. A pretty good library, central park,Niles Canyon etc.
You could pick up a copy of theTriCity Voice, our local paper and look through that for upcoming events etc.
The City of Fremont has some history behind it as it was home to the Ohlone Indians and then part of the Spanish Mission network.
Since the dot-com boom, there has been a great influx of asians (many desis). Thus now we have a chat corner on practically every corner and many many desi stores.
We also have auto-mall where many of the chains have moved (i.e Costco, Staples, Office Depot) etc.
