The Israel war that was launched on Lebanon in the summer of 2006 had nothing to do with the 2 IDF soldiers that Hezbollah held captive. This was just an excuse for the gullible American tax payer who believes anything mainstream will feed him. The US ordered the Lebanon war so that the South of Lebanon could be cleanred from refugees and of course from Hezbollah making way for the US and Israel to build their military basis and industrial projects. Hezbollah had to be destroyed not because of 2 insignificant Israeli soldiers?, but because Hezbollah as a nationalist armed resistance movement would never allow a foreign force to enter Lebanon be it Israel or the United States.
Until the reports are cleared, people in the Akkar region will continue to fear such 'a mystery military base' in their area.

Most of residents in the area were wary of speaking to the press but some living near the airport said several US officials had visited the facility in the past few months.
Independent military experts say the military base project was orchestrated by the office of the US Secretary of Defence to counter Russian bases in northern Syria.
'The US administration wants the Qleiat airport as a location because it lies 22 air miles from northern Syria's Tartus naval base and also the Russian Mediterranean Black Sea fleet's command centre,' said one military expert who requested anonymity.
In 2006, Russia announced plans to set up a naval base in Syria in a move that would dramatically increase Moscow's presence in West Asia.
Russia has dredged the Syrian port of Tartus, where the Russian Navy has had a maintenance station since Soviet times.
The uproar started after US Undersecretary of Defence for Policy Eric Edelman visited Lebanon and spoke of a 'strategic partnership' with Lebanon's army in an interview aired on Lebanese television last week. Edelman did not mention the building of a military base.
But according to a report in Beirut newspaper As-Safir published last week, Edelman - who during his visit met with Premier Fouad Seniora, Defence Minister Elias Murr and Lebanese Army Commander General Michel Suleiman - not only discussed the Lebanese Army's training and equipment needs but also put forward a draft agreement that would see US naval, air and land bases set up on Lebanese territory.
Information Minister Ghazi Aridi categorially denied the As-Safir article, saying it was 'an attempt to create a rift between the Lebanese Army and the government by those who stood against the army during the battle for Nahr al-Bared.'
The fifteen-week long battles at Nahr al-Bared claimed the lives of 170 soldiers and more than 220 militants, as well as displaced the camp's 40,000 Palestinian refugees.
According to military expert Amin Hoteit, the reported US plan aims to set up six military bases - three in Iraq, one in Jordan, one in Saudi Arabia and one in Lebanon.
It is believed that the Lebanese government is going to approve the base, allegedly to be named the US-Lebanese Centre for Rehabilitation of the Army.
'Mystery' US base causes confusion among Lebanese

Akkar, Lebanon - The people of the Akkar region, north Lebanon, were busy Sunday discussing the veracity of local news indicating that the United States may be planning to build a military base in their area.
Worries increased after former pro-Syrian Member of Parliament (MP) Nasser Kandil appeared on television Sunday revealing a document he claimed was issued by the Bureau of 'Dangerous Zones' which is affiliated with the US Department of Defense.
Kandil said the document announced the starting of 'preparatory construction to set up a military base for NATO and US forces in the area of Qeliat' in northern Lebanon.
According to military expert Amin Hoteit, the reported US plan aims to set up six military bases - three in Iraq, one in Jordan, one in Saudi Arabia, and one in Lebanon. "This US project, if it is established, will bring more problems. . . Probably every group in Lebanon would oppose it," the military expert continued.

Akkar locals worry over possibility of a US military base
Worries grow in Lebanon over the possibility of a military base being built by the United States in the Akkar district in northern Lebanon.

What professional liars American diplomats have become. They do take after their government and president. We understand that the US is looking for new basis in the Middle East to compensate for its accumulating losses. What the US doesn?t seem to understand however is that today, its position in the Middle East is far weaker than it ever was, yet US needs are bigger than they ever were. Ages ago, the US was facing a neutral and friendly Arab population. Today the US is facing a fiercely unwelcoming population. The US is simply no longer welcome in the Arab world and Middle East. People here are just fed up with the United States, with its continuous lies and hypocrisy and with its illegal, blind and unjust support and subservience to Israel.
Hezbollah commented the facts declaring that Edelman's revelations "dealt a severe blow to Feltman's efforts to contain the political storm which the reports about the US base have created", adding that Edelman's statements explain why Western powers are so adamant in sustaining the March-14 bloc, in whom they see their partner for the project of transforming Lebanon into another Iraq. Hezbollah expressed confidence that the doctrine of the Lebanese army would not be shacked by such US projects.
Beirut, 19 October - The US Ambassador to Lebanon Jeffry Feltman,was seen on Lebanese TV screens countrywide lashing out at the Al-Safir daily for an article published yesterday. In the article Al-Safir called on the government to deny any "involvement in an unbalanced relation with the enemy's (Israel) top ally, which would be suicidal". As-Safir had written about the US intentions to build a military base in Lebanon and reshape the military doctrine of the Lebanese armed forces in the direction of safeguarding Western interests against the influence of Syria and Russia, which would include dropping the concept of Israel as an enemy and of Hezbollah as a resistance force.
Visibly ,angered, Feltman described the Al-Safir article as fabricated, wrong and baseless and denounced the implicit warning spelled out to the Lebanese armed forces, lest they fall into the trap, as insulting.
Construction of a US airbase on the grounds of the largely abandoned airbase at Klieaat in northern Lebanon may begin late this year. To make the project more palpable, it is being promoted as a 'US/NATO' base that will serve as the headquarters of a NATO rapid deployment force, helicopter squadrons, and Special Forces units.

Planned US airbase in Kleiaat?? But hasn?t the US government been strongly denying such claims for months? Hasn?t the nefarious US ambassador to Lebanon Jeffrey Feltman even suggested that the thought itself was absurd considering the offense it constituted to the Lebanese army which the US is ?so keen? on developing!? What is absurd is that American ambassadors around the world have become nothing but roving agents and spies who perfectly represent their foul-smelling and rancid Neocon Zionist government.
