The Tearjerkers
Books can be one of our best escapes, they educate and inspire, entertain and enrich, make us think and forget and also make us happy or sad. Have you ever cried over a book, we all do I guess. When did you do it? Read something with a lump in your throat or tears in the eye.
Some of the books that have evoked deep emotions are
Love Story by Erich Segal
I guess Love Story is one of the simplest and saddest novels. It has a great plot that doesnt border on filmy notions rather chooses loving and losing as it s main theme making it real, painful and very beautiful.
Angela's Ashes by Frank Mccourt
I cried when Frank started stealing to support his family. Its a moving autobiography detailing poverty in Limerick that won Pulitzer Prize.
Shahabnama by Qudrat ullah Shahab
Shahbnama (is an autobiography of Pakitani civil servant-author-mystic) has been my fave since a decade or so. His obituary of his wife always leaves me with a lump and also when he talks about his mystical correspondence with Ninety. Sadly it hasnt been translated into English.
The Chicken Soup Series
I love reading them not becuase they are so sweet and sentimental but also they uplift me, make me think and count my blessings.
The Qur'aan .
And I always cry whenever I read Qur'aan Shareef. It doesnt make me sad rather fills me with incredible calm and gratitude.
