Talat Aziz.

I came across this ghazal on a CD.
I never realised the impact whilst watching the movie.
The words are pretty, however it is the way Talat Aziz sings it that took my breath away.

You will have to pick the song....it is also available on an album by Talat Aziz called Yeh ishq nahin aasaan.
I like the movie version for the clarity, his album version is quite nostalgic. Enjoy!

" Zindagi jab bhi teri bazm mein laati hai hamen
ye zamin chand se behatar nazar aati hai hamen

surkh phulon se mahak uthati hain dil ki rahen
din dhale yun teri aawaz bulaati hai hamen

yaad teri kabhi dastak kabhi saragoshi se
raat ke pichhale prahar roz jagaati hai hamen

har mulaqat ka anjaam judai kyun hai
ab to har vaqt yahi baat satati hai hamen"

Oh Yes,

I agree with you. Sometimes simplicity and easiness is soothing. No doubt. I touched different layers just for discussion and more inisght into urdu poetry.

To express I couldn't sleep last night

I would say
Raat bhar nahiN so saka

You would say
Raat bhar taare ginti rahi

Twilighthirl would say
Raat bhar macchar kaT tay rahe lol

Sahir Ludhianvi says
Der tuk aaNkhoN meiN chubhti rahi taaroN ki chamak

"till dawn the dazzle of stars kept piercing my eyes"

Carrera

The verse, rather the entire ghazal is in mediocre Urdu. Though its a bit poetic but not symbolic and has not much depth. I'm not criticizing it and I agree its sung well. I'm trying to say that its plain and in very easy language except that it has Urdu simple words and not Hindi.

Let me translate some words and you will see what I mean.

Dastak
Knock on door

Sargoshi
Whisper

Raat ke pichlay peher
In late hours of night

Meaning,
Each night you knock on the door of my memory, sometimes as if whispering and I keep getting up till late at night

Awww... TG me is so jealous of your musical influences .

I can imagine the smattering of melodies in the air as you did your homework.

Honestly I really couldn't find many of his albums only one. Voh bhi mushil se.

I actually just really liked the way he sang this , so I found out more about him. Handsome, huh?

Nice one Carrera. Thanks for sharing. Somehow I never took a fancy for Talat Aziz, Anoop Jalota and Pankhaj Udas. Agreed, Talat has a soft voive and a soothing style. Not saying that he is not good but... somehow....
