System Cleansing/Detox

Ghandi used to give himself an enama almost daily. While I admire Ghandi's theory of non-violence, I think following his method of cleansing would be stretching my admiration for him too far.

So, has anyone tried detox etc? I have heard that it is supposed to rejuvenate you. Any thoughts?

Hey Poyeye ate Spinach. In the end, he would win & get the girl too.

I don't think any guy would have problem with that ending.

Spinach all the way.

FYI - Spinach can actually cause constipation...

Fiber can cause gassiness, but for some it works...I've tried different types, fibersure, fiber tablets, etc etc I still like Senekot and Prune Juice the best.

As for prune juice, I mix it with hot water and drink it late at night while I check my email...Haha, but its as close to a chai substitute I can find and it doesnt taste so bad...

That's what I love about this willage...we are now talking about bowl movements ;-)

Senekot is actually a stool softener as opposed to a laxative...heh

Anyway, dont use it. Just incorporate high quality fiber into your diet every other day. Have an organic tomato and spinach salad with organic dressing....mmmm.

All jokes aside, it really is tasty.

Senekot is a laxative...a gentle one made for us gentle women. It has senna in it, which is a natural laxative.

I googled Senekot, and its sounds like a laxative. But I think that's to fix someone's congested pipes, but I thought that detox was good for your whole body.

Maybe a combination of high-fiber diet, 15-20 minutes in steam/saun, copious amounts of water over few days should do the job.

Nazli: very interesting. May have to look into that. How do you go about drinking that prune juice? Like you'll have a glass on Monday and then Thursday? And whats the other thing Senekot all about?

Actually, I noticed a huge difference, but a different type of cleansing. I know that products like cheese etc. tend to stick to the lining of your colon....only reason I know this is cause my dad was a colon cancer patient.

After much research, I've incorporated prune juice in my diet twice a week and every couple weeks Senekot which helps to clean out your system and it's herbal. I feel healthier, lost 10 lbs although I work out a lot and eat healthy, but I def suggest more people incorporate something in their diet....however, you shouldn't abuse any of these methods since it can wipe your system of essential vitamins, etc

Have never done a colon cleansing, but thought about it. Fiber tends to make a lot of people gasy, including myself, so I opt for the two above.

Up your fiber intake of green leafy vegetables. Thats the best way to "cleanse" your system.

Stop shoving things up your gand.

Thanks. I think sticking to healthy food - means no fast food - should do the job equally well.

I've done a couple of cleanses. Didn't notice anything significantly different.
