Sir or not Sir

Salman Rushdie was among the Queen Elizabeth's honor list released on 16 June 2007.

Rushdie was honored with a knighthood for his services to literature and will from now on, in certain circles, be referred to with the title "Sir".

Having published over a dozen works, Rushdie has received various literary prizes and an equal measure of controversy.

Sir...there's a reason people throughout history have voluntary chosen to be persecuted to enable us to have the freedoms we have today. Sir Rushdie reminds us that freedom of speech and thought is more important than his own life.
