Sexual abuse against Bahraini children
Cases of sexual abuse against Bahraini children are going unreported because of the stigma associated with the crime, according to a leading health professional.
Swar Counselling and Consultation psychotherapist Dr Sharifa Hameed Swar says parents are reluctant to report to police if they discover one of their siblings is being preyed upon, especially if the case involves a girl.
She says many youngsters are abused by members of their own family and are subject to sexual harassment
from people close to them.
