Nasir dil e tabaah nah un ko dikha saka
Milne ko baarha unhaiN tanhaiyaaN mileeN

KuooN na dikha saka? Was he not interested in showing, was he busy with something else...wink wink or simply the sedist/lazzat-e-gham approach of Urdu Shairee like
"Zakhm ke bharnay talak naakhun na ubhar aaegay kiya"

The only thing is that there is no apparent punctuation in Urdu shayeri....U got to reach it

Login to find out (August 6, 2009 at 3:01pm)
See what i mean by punctuation

Example 1
"Milne ko baarha, unhaiN tanhaiyaaN mileeN"

...that she found solitude
(This one is wrong)

now read
"Milne ko baarha unhaiN, tanhaiyaaN mileeN"
this one is right.

Un se milne ko bohot dafa, (mujhe) tanhiyaan (opportunity when we 2 were alone)) mileeN

TG

Punctuation plays such a vital part...Now read

"Jin ki thi aarzaoo, Nah woh gehraayiaN mileeN'

That depth was NOT found

Second sher is easy yet deep

baarha = several times (For some VIs ;))

Well how could he have found depth if the ishq was one way? So right and it also proves my earlier point.

I always say that poetry is like abstract art and has different angles and more than that its how one's own perception is. I very often analyse shers and at times there can be multiple meanings derived.

Let me try this one and see if others have anything else or more to say.

"Woh to nah mil sakay hamain ruswaiyaan mileeN"
Its more or less a straight forward misra and here "hamaiN' is not said as a plural but as a singular. There are reasons for me to believe so as I go further

"Lekin hamare ishq ko raaniyaan mileeN'
Great misra.
It is very difficult to translate some or many Urdu words in to English and one can only try getting closer or closest to the meaning. "RaaniyaaN' is like "grace" or "elegance" (not flourish)

But again "hamare' in this misra too is said in singular form and NOT in plural form. Both my statements are proved by the 2n.d and the last sher of the ghazal. "nah woh gehrayiaN mileen" and "nasir dil e tabaah nah unko dikha saka".

So that means that the intense love or ISHQ was one way yaani yek tarfa.

And again what is the exact word in English for Ishq? mania? In my opinion Ishq has to be one sided or else it becomes mohabbat otr pyar or chahat whatever.....

What do you all say?

What a boring day....I am done with some major projects in office and there is trash all over naseeb's JEs. On top of it villages are deserted as usual.

Nageen at least you try to surface as you are one member who has stayed here as an anchor.

Come to think of it, though there are so many ghazals of Nasir sung by various artists but I took one at a time. it was of late that I realized how many top ghazals are by him...amazing.

This ghazal by Abida parveen is my all time fav.

This also reminds me that Zara's fav. poet is Nasir Kazmi. I remember her telling this once.
