Resume & skills for the biotech industry
Biotech field is revisiting lean manufacturing practices amidst a frail economy as was seen with the auto industry in the 80's and the 90's. What this means is that job applicants need to bring skills that reflect the state of the industry. Biotech industry needs workers who have a co-op/internship experience. In lieu of this it would be wise for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) graduates to incorporate a few courses that teach business skills, project/team management, product design, research and development, and operations. These skills will ensure that STEM job applicants have a foundation that prepares them well for industry. Also, importantly take a semester or two off to pursue co-op/intern at a company. Especially in this day and age of financial crunch it is paramount to re-tool your resume/CV for changing work force needs.
