Ramadan Workouts

Salaams and hi...

What's everyone doing for their workouts during Ramadan? Fasting will be right before 5:00 until about 8:30. I'm trying to figure out how to still workout with my trainer three times a week, around my work schedule and fasting. Suggestions?

doing your regular workout routine after breaking your fast is a good way to injure yourself.

Haha...I'm not a warrior! I recently started the gym about 3 months ago. My fasts will be about 15 hours long. With my work schedule I'm thinking I'll have to go early mornings after sehri and just do some light cardio, not strength training with the trainer.

You may have to adjust your timings and your workout routine during Ramadhan. For a few years I've tried to still go all out during Ramadhan. The fact is that after 12 hours on an empty stomache the natural strength and stamina just isn't there. In fact you are doing more harm than good. I'd suggest just to tone it down a bit. If you're a warrior who trains 5 to 6 days a week, cut down to 3 or 4 days and maybe not go as intense.

My goal is not to gain weight-- I always find myself gaining weight during ramadan! I work too hard the rest of the year to see everything go to waste in a month... note to self--don't over eat, and try to be healthy!

I can't really eat in the morning. I usually eat half a grapefruit and that's about it. For Iftaari I eat a date and maybe some fruit, then pray, then come back to eat. How often would frequent be?

Thanks guys! I am going to take the month off; they let my trainer go so I have to start over anyway. I think the best thing for me to do is to go for a walk after Iftaari. I've got the natural paths and walkways behind my house. Don't know about yous guys but I get sluggish after I eat so this might work.

Well I've tried to do it and believe me, it don't work. I gave up after 2 weeks. This was 2 or 3 years ago. It was more frustrating than rewarding. I didn't feel like I was accomplishing anything, I was totally hating life, and my self esteem was at about a -10. Either don't fast or don't workout.

Dood, was there anyone who's ever made it work? Please. The one's who make it work are the one's that don't fast. Absolutely no way you can go almost 10 straight hours a day for 29 or 30 days, starving, no supplementation, and still even maintain your current strength/build, by working out after or before you start fasting. I don't believe it and anyone who says that they have was either scrawny to start with or is full of crapp.

It's kind of pointless. You can't properly nutrition yourself and you won't see any gains. Not to mention you wont have the energy unless you hit the gym right after sahri. My advice, take the month off and don't even bother making an already tough month even tougher on yourself. It's mentally tarnishing as it is to watch your hard work go down the drain, don't waste your time.
