:) its great to hear that Puerto Rico remains a relaxing place to spend vacations.

I just went to PR with my mom and son and it was beautiful and we felt completely safe. Granted, we stayed at the resort most of the time and didn't stay at old town when it was dark...but it was still one of the most relaxing and beautiful vacations i have ever been on!

seriously... do not venture to go anywhere on holiday on your own. I went there years ago and did not feel threatened. The place is outstanding with beautiful & sandy beaches, mountains, breathtaking scenery but in San Juan the capital local Men & Women out there are hotty... I went to a night club by the beach and didnt see any security check points. Some run down areas of course are excluded.

I will not suggest going to Puerto Rico alone or with ladies only. I have been there and it is a rough place. you do need to have male company unfortunately. Or most probably I am chicken...LOL No, seriously even with male company you have to avoid some areas of town. Ask your hotel concierge, and they will tell you. I remember they told us to avoid some part of old San Juan and they were checking us for guns at the Big hotel disco entrance. It was kinda scary people in there...:-(
