Does Racial Profiling Affect You?
A CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS
Since September 11 2001, targeted groups of people in Canada have been the focus of increased surveillance and heightened scrutiny practices from police and security agencies; from such places as airport and boarder security checks and customs clearance, to job loss to denial of Canadian citizenship. Some people are stopped and questioned on the street or are visited by government agents in their homes. What is racial profiling? How have concerns about racial profiling affected your personal decisions in the last six years? How have you been affected by racial profiling? We would like to invite you to participate in a study conducted through the Faculty of Law at UBC and the MARU Society to share your experience in a one-hour confidential interview. Participants will be paid for their time and their identity will be protected and respected.

The MARU Society has been funded by the Law Foundation of British Columbia, and RIM (Research on Immigration and Integration in the Metropolis) to undertake a study of affected communities and this is one of MARU?s first projects.

It reminds me of the song "Riding Dirty".
Racial profiling is a problem that has occurred in Canada & the U.S. It's a bigger problem in small towns that are not multi-cultural.
I cross-examined a police officers during a preliminary inquiry for racial profiling who wrote that the appearance of chinese people in front of a house seemed suspicious as other chinese people have had marijuana grow operations!!! How blatantly racist!
The judge was interesting to hear her answer and she said no it's not racial profiling it's criminal profiling!
IT WAS CRIMINAL PROFILING BASED ON RACE! Blatant racial profiling!
