Pakhto Landay

Its so unfortunate that Naseeb owners are true Kanjoosaan.

They won't even let us upload a picture. Monis must be a Sheikh, this is the only website that doesn't allow uploading pictures for free..

I am so bored that I decided to google Pukhto landay. We had this huge book of Landays and I can't find it anywhere at home. I am so upset about it. Now you must be wondering what is "Landay." well that I couldn't explain either. Some sort of small poems/songs about love/beloveds (well most of them).

But here is a good website I came across. They have landays on different topics with English translation.

If you are into poetry (like myself), I am sure you will enjoy it :)
www.afghanan.net

here is an example

Judaee raghla laaray duaee showay
marg mai qabool de, judaee na qaboolawoma

Separation faces me, i have but two paths to follow;
I shall take death for i can not bear to follow the path of separation.

There is a dictionary online that might help with the reading. The pashto fonts don't work for me though: dsal.uchicago.edu

I hope they get it to work where you can use pashto fonts to look up words.

it made me miss my father, he was into Landays, and as I mentioned, we had this huge book of landays in Pashto. I have lost it, and I am so upset about it.

I had the same reaction when I first came across this website. This is beautiful...

Dearest Alif,

Thank you so much for posting the "landay" site. It has been so so long that I haven't heard the word Landay. Since I have left my beloved country. It took me back and I click the link, and tears almost came from my eyes to see different one's. One of my Aunt use to be really good at it. And it made me miss her alot. And I immediately cut and past the link and send it to all my siblings and nieces and nephews..:-)

thank you, you made my day,

Dera, dera manana,
Aqila

Khan wororan,

I am so grateful to you, for introducing me to this site. I just read the Landay, and clicked on the linked, you won't believe, how happy it made me. I have access to Pushtu books, but it is really a high to see them on the Internet...:-)

dera dera manana, you are wonderful.

I think this is cute,

Ka tor urbal mai meerase gi,
da watan jang de, janan na manna koma

Although there would be nobody to caress my black curls,
I don't prevent my beloved from fighting for the country.
