Ohio Congressman Opposes US Base in Lebanon

The US administration has been denying all claims of a planned US airbase in Qleiat in northern Lebanon. The US Ambassador to Lebanon Jeffery Feltman even suggested that the thought itself was absurd considering the offense it constituted to the Lebanese army which the US is ?so keen? on developing.
Ohio Congressman and Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich however confirmed the base issue is being discussed in Washington and that there's opposition to the project in Congress.
"There's talk about the US wants cooperation from and with Lebanon and there's talk about the US establishing a presence there. I reject any idea of a US military presence in Lebanon. I reject it and I disagree with it. There is speculation about it and I'm saying that those who speculate about it should know that there is opposition to it in Congress," Kucinich, who had voted against the Iraq war in 2002, said.

Hezbollah has already warned the US against setting up the base in Lebanon, saying the foreign troops would be treated as occupation forces.
Former MP Nasser Kandil had revealed a document he claimed was issued by the Bureau of "Dangerous Zones" which is affiliated with the US Department of Defense Kandil said the document announced the starting of "preparatory construction to set up a military base for NATO and US forces in the area of Qleiat" in northern Lebanon, which is allegedly to be named 'the US-Lebanese Centre for Rehabilitation of the Army'.
