OC: Dhanak Murder Case
I have been following this local story for a few days. It is totally BIZZARE and horrendous.
What: Brutal murder of Karishma Dhanak, 20, and her father Jayprakash Dhanak, 56. Charred bodies found in William Mason Park by UC Irvine.
When: May 22, 2007
Where: Anaheim house burned, Leela Dhanak, 53, mother of Karishma found badly beaten and unconcious in the yard.
Police arrested Iftekhar Murtaza, 22, from Phoenix airport on May 25. He was enroute to Bangladesh from LAX. He is identified as the estranged boy friend of Shayona Dhanak, 18, younger sister of Karishma.
The Dhanak family never approved of this relationship since Murtaza is Muslim and they were Hindu. Murtaza has been charged with dual murders and police is looking for at least one more accomplice.

I find myself speechless. Such a brutal murder, so close to home. Honestly, reading in to the details, this sounds like out of a Soprano's episode.
Karishma and Jayparkash were found beaten, stabbed, strangled, and BURNED 20 miles away from their home.
Their home was torched.
Leela may not be able to speak for a while after the beating she took.
Jayprakash spent 3 years in jail for bilking the US Postal Service and was ordered to pay a $2.5 million fine.
Leela ran an online gambling business.
And they have arrested a 22 year old for masterminding all of this? It sure looks odd to me.
The fact that he is MUZLIM does not help our cause in any way.

We all know what happens when the adrenaline starts.
I think this case should be viewed as any other local cases here in the US. Just because he is a muzlim doesn't make this case any different in my pov.
