MPAC Shia Outreach Internship
APPLY TODAY FOR MPAC'S SHI'A OUTREACH FELLOWSHIP

(Washington, DC - 4/18/07) -- The Muslim Public Affairs Council is proud to announce that it is offering a new joint fellowship with the Qunoot Foundation for outreach to and research on the Shi'a Muslim American community in the United States. The fellowship provides funding for one intern in MPAC's Washington DC office in summer 2007 to focus on concerns within the Shi'a community.
The Qunoot Foundation is a Washington DC-based not-for-profit organization that focuses on socio-political education within the Shi'a Muslim community. This internship will provide a stipend for one fellow for eight weeks in the amount of $2,000. The fellowship is open to all candidates -- regardless of religious persuasion -- who show a demonstrated interest in working to bridge relations between Muslims in the US.

MPAC is also now accepting applications for its Summer Internship Program in Washington, DC and Los Angeles, CA. Apply today and you'll be eligible to work for the American Muslim community, understand how policy gets shaped, and gain experience in the non-profit sector.
MPAC interns gain hands-on education, experience and skills in media, community, and government relations. You won't just be filing, you'll get to use your creativity and initiative to enhance or even create effective projects that help fulfill our mission. We are looking for team players who are self-motivated and enjoy working hard. Interns conduct daily briefings on local and national politics and media, write reports and analyses, interact with government officials, attend press conferences and organize events.

The MPAC-DC office is located across the street from the Supreme Court, Capitol Building, and all of the Senate Office Buildings, allowing interns to experience the political atmosphere of Washington firsthand. MPAC-LA is located in the center of one of the nation's media capitols, and regular engages with media and governmental professionals as well as interfaith dialogue, hate crime prevention, and community outreach.
MPAC is an American institution which informs and shapes public opinion and policy by serving as a trusted resource to decision makers in government, media and policy institutions. MPAC is also committed to developing leaders with the purpose of enhancing the political and civic participation of American Muslims.
