Jumblatt Tells PSP Cadres to Shoot Protesters

The Lebanese Al-Akhbar daily said that the head of the Progressive Socialist Party MP Walid Jumblatt convened his party cadres and told them that the opposition could resort to protests in case a president was elected by a simple majority (half-plus-one MPs). Jumblatt, according to the daily, added that the opposition could as well close the international coastal highway between Beirut and the southern city of Sidon on the one hand and Mount Lebanon and Beirut on the other. He told them to open the roads with fire if necessary instructing his cadres not to spare anyone. "Don't rely on the Future Movement (of MP Saad Hariri), because they have not yet decided to fight," Jumblatt said.
