Impak URGENTLY needs donation now!
I'm part of an organization that is working to make a difference in Pakistan one mission at a time. Impak partners with organizations in Pakistan and recruits volunteer Fellows from abroad to provide much needed, short-term skills.
I'm serving as a board member for Impak because I believe that it allows us to actively make a difference at a grassroots level. But in order for us to have an impact, I need your support.
Please consider making at least a $50 contribution to help me reach my fundraising goal and help Impak run its 2009 program.

Impak serves a vital need
Ask any organization in Pakistan what their most dire need is. In most cases it's not money -- it's people. Impak selectively recruits Fellows to work with these organizations and serve as enablers. Our Fellows come from abroad and are of all ages, working on short-term projects in key areas such as health, education, infrastructure, human rights, gender, and media.
You can read about past Fellow experiences from our website.
How does Impak manage its funds?
Until recently, Impak has been a volunteer-run organization with 100% of the donations going to project-related expenses. While still maintaining the same nimble approach to funds, we've hired a Program Manager to help us effectively select, recruit for, and manage successful projects.
Cost per project with 3 Fellows: $3,000
(Fellows are required to fundraise for their airfare)
Expected summer 2009 program cost: $40,000
Annual administration and overhead: $18,000
Fundraising goal for 2009: $58,000
What is happening for the 2009 summer program?
It takes about 8 months to develop projects and recruit Fellows for the summer program. We are also considering short-term and rolling programs for early spring.
Projects last 8- to 12-weeks with about 2-4 Fellows assigned to a particular organization.
Some of the projects that we're considering right now:
* American sign language training
* Teacher training workshop
* Health care support for clinics in earthquake affected areas in Kashmir
* Reconstruction and relief to earthquake affectees in Balochistan
Please support us with a $50, $100, $500 contribution to Impak
