More help has reached Burma, after the first US aid plane landed in Rangoon, nine days after the cyclone struck. How should the international community respond?

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has expressed his frustration at what he called the unacceptably slow response to the crisis.

Reports say that disease and dehydration are taking hold in the area worst hit by the cyclone, the Irawaddy delta.

The aid agency Oxfam has warned that up to 1.5 million people will be at risk unless clean water and sanitation is provided soon.
