How much money you expect ur fiance to pay for ur "mahr"?


Mahr is the gift/money a husband gives to his new bride.
however there are family who ask for alot of money others accept less expensive mahr. so how much do you expect your fiance to pay for ur mahr?

the egyptian gov. usually solve problems by creating more problems. for example, to reduce the population (ta7deed el nasl) they put too much restriction on marriage, my cousine had to sign many documents when she got married. people now find "gawas 3orfi" as the best way for stress relief.

also to solve the problem for unemployment, they made exams so hard. it's so stupid, they don't know how to solve problem, they are solving the problem by creating another problem.

well, ya masreyah ya 82, there are 2 aspects of what we r talking about as morsy is saying. 7alal or 7aram and permissible by law or not. totally different boats in the muslim countries. I was talking if 3orfi is 7alal or 7aram.
now as far as wakeel for a virgin or bride, as far as I know it's shar3an matloob for a girl or woman regardless of if she has been married or not. on the other side of the coin talking legalities, a woman could be her own wakeel when she gets married.

that rule is from the quran and will not hold true in a court of law. atleast in egypt it won't.

Hossam, you caught on to what I wanted to say.. When I say legal or not legal, I?m addressing the legitimacy within a state law. Whereas saying 7alal wala 7aram, I?m really talking about the religious perspective. In the middle east, this is "legal" because it's not binding, it simply means nothing in a court of a law and the woman has no rights whatsoever even though there is a written contract.. as for the 7alal or 7aram, I think it's 7aram and it's only considered a way to legitimize prostitution.

the media draw alot of negative image against "gawaz 3orfi" because most of the gawaz 3orfi aren't documented with Law of the country. however, when it comes to Sharia it has all the requirments required to marriage.

yes it is ya masrawya.. it's gawaz mo3taraf beeh (in any muslim country not here). gheir mosta7ab.. but it's a gawaz like any other gawaz..
a contract between a man an a woman 3ala sonnat Allah wa rasuluh (PBAH).

i think many people find marriage stress because of all these things add to it such are wedding, buying a house, furniture, mahr, jewelry..etc. while in fact marriage in Islam can be more simple than that.

this reminds me with a joke... a guy went to ask for his girl's hand from her daddy. the dad asks for $20k for mahr.. the guys responds: how come? the girl next door is selling for $10k and she even comes ready with 1 kid..

it's sad when you start pricing things when it comes to weddings.. especially in Egypt.

well said. i believe less expensive marriage lead to more blessed marriage. and the more generous treatment comes from the family bride the more generous i become toward them.
