I agree with abu. i enjoy getting together with the family, but it has taken them aawhile to remeber the pork issue. And don't even let there b a birthday during ramadan- to much explaining to do!!
Sarabev- I think it's great that ur family even knows when Eid is! that's shows a great thoughtfullness on their part,.
Regardless of what time of year it is- enjoy your family and friends.

I will generally visit my relatives during the holidays just because it is one of the few times where everyone is together, but I try to stay away from any activities which are specific to the way non-muslims celebrate those holidays. So, we don't participate in gift exchanges etc. My family is really spread out so this time of the year is one of the few times there is to see everyone.

oh ok so am not the only one thinking is ok to celebrated bouth, the only person is my twin sister who always gives me something on Eid. but my family always say is " Christmas not Eid for us", thank u for ur comment. may Allah swt bless u n ur family always... happy Holidays!!!!!!

I know a lot of Muslims who celebrate Thanksgiving, personally I don't have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner...but I am not opposed to it. Regarding Christmas, I don't celebrate it either. My parents have started giving me gifts around Eid instead of Christmas, and I really appreciate it. They will probably always still give me gifts around the holiday season, and I also give them gifts around the time between Eid and Christmas. They know it's just a gift for the "holidays". In my case I'm giving it to celebrate Eid, and I assume they are giving it to celebrate the holidays in general. You have to try to maintain religious practices and respect your family at the same time.
