I was taken aback by the twist of Dumbledore's sexual orientation...but what was the point to this "huge unveiling". How did this add to the story? Rowling describes her characters thru their personalities so this forces the readers to not define the characters by their race or religion. Yet, she needed to let us know Dumbledore's sexual orientation. Huh?!

I had such a deep regard for the Dumbledore character.... but imagining him as a flamer is not conducive to my thinking of him as being a know-it-all guide.... and imaging what him and Grindewald must have been doing in his parents house is not a pretty picture.... no wonder Abeforth got mad and hated him the rest of his life.... its obvious, who the man in the relationship was....

Young gay Dumbledore doesn't fit the profile of a wizard seeking domination of human kind... although his sensitivity to the use of force may be questionable.
