Hezbollah's Consultative Center for Studies and Documentation waited until the "Paris 3" donors' conference was passed, so as not to be accused of hindering the bill, and then put forward a detailed and scientific statement over the direct losses caused by the war. It turned out that the total cost of reconstruction, including the losses in the economic sector is close to 1.43 US billion dollars, that is half what Saniora's government has raised excluding losses in economic sector, which Hezbollah's Study center calculated at 586 US million dollars. The objectivity and transparency of the figures raised by Hezbollah have put the credibility of the ruling bloc under the microscope. Questions were asked about the reason behind doubling the figure and soon enough the answers proved to have a certain link with the political directives aimed against the resistance on the one hand, and to cover up for the corruption on the other. This adds to the many scandalous practices by the ruling bloc during the war.
