I took the Kaplan prep-course along with reviewing the materials from Princeton that I got from a friend. And Manifestation is correct, the materials provided by Kaplan are indeed different than those offered at bookstores. Now which is better truly depends on individual's strength in math/verbal area and test taking ability. So efficient strategizing is key.

My view is that if the math is weak, the concepts, which are more tangible, can be improved. If your verbal is weak, good luck! While certain things can be mastered in the sentence completion section, tools for the reading comprehension is built from childhood...whether you were an active reader etc. and can only be improved marginally. Unfortunately I suck at the verbal section and only got 720, therefore spent bulk of the time making sure I got 99% in math. If your concepts are strong then Princeton is a better prep cuz it focuses on problem solving shortcuts and efficiency. If you however need to brush up on core concepts then Kaplan does a thorough job covering those materials and drilling you with the most challenging questions that makes the real thing look quite easy. i taught GMAT for Kaplan and FYI, they teach with Different books than those available in any store (sorry badmash007, you got the wrong info... but congrats on your score!)

I took the Princeton Review prep course and went to the Kaplan's information session. That was 2 years ago but I did scored a 770. So, I think Princeton Review helped me a lot.

badmash, have you compared it against other programs personally? or is this just what the Princeton review tells you about their program from their literature alone?

I'd recommend taking the Princeton Review prep-course.
Here is why:
- Its questions are closer to the Power Prep (retired GMAT questions book) than Kaplan and others.
- Moreover, by taking the course, you get the Princeton Review book which is different from the Princeton Review book available at bookstores. The difference in quality of material is material. Kaplan gives you the same book that you can buy from B& N for $30 and teaches from it.

For the Sentence Correction section prep., I'd also recommend the Grammar Smart book from Princeton Review. Search on Amazon for this.
