? I thank the patriarch for his initiate and he knows why it failed. But if the agreement among politicians has failed, let us resort to the people and see who won and is still winning the support of the people. This is shown everyday through statistics. The opinion of the people should be respected.

? If the elections are not held, this jeopardizes the very existence of the Christians of Lebanon. This is true persecution.

? My concern is for the presidency itself not for the position of president.

? I remind all the Americans I met during my trip to the US in November 2005 that I told them we have reached an impasse and they didn?t take it seriously.

? In all parliamentary democracies if there no agreement on the president, countries resort to early elections.

? My meeting with Amine Gemayel was a serious encounter and constitutes a basis for the foundation of a new understanding.

? If there is no elections with the 2/3 we consider that the prolongation of the Siniora government mandate and the election with the 50% + 1 as a coup against the Constitution. Both situations are unconstitutional and we will deal with them accordingly. Siniora remaining in power and without a new president is a political void. This will lead to confrontation.

? The Siniora government has to know that they will be held accountable and the opposition will resort to other means to reach their aim.

? The crisis is in the Grand Serail not in the tents erected in a parking lot.

? The exaggerated international support for the other parties is instigating them against us.

? The US can sell Lebanon as they did in 1990 when I was ousted but I never will.

? MP Walid Jumblatt has training camps in Eklim el Kharroub.

? There is the State of Syria and the Syrian regime. If the Syrian regime is found guilty for the assassinations, then the culprits should be taken to court. But I am asking for normal relations between Syria and Lebanon built on the basis of the sovereignty and the independence of both countries.

? The problem is that the other parties don?t want the rule of law in the country. They don?t want to rebuild the security apparatuses neither to reform the administration. They want Lebanon tailor-made to their feudal ambitions.

? They formed a government with Hizbullah and fought the elections side by side with Hizbullah and this didn?t seem to bother those who consider Hizbullah as terrorists. This happened only when I talk to them, so the problem is the exclusion of FPM and my elimination from the political scene.

? There is still a possibility for consensus and those who refuse it want to eliminate the Christians and thus eliminate Lebanon.

? I suggested a solution after I asked the international community to come up with a solution of their own. I don?t understand why it is not allowed to give a peaceful solution a chance.

? Some parties tried to both intimidate me and appeal to me to sever my understanding with Hizbullah.

? My talks with MP Saad Hariri were good and there were no serious points of disagreement. We agreed on main issues such as the international tribunal. I gave him my suggestion for the solution of the weapons of Hizbullah.

? The time has become crucial for serious talks and we have put our cards on the table.

? We accept any consensual solution that comes with a president. A solution should not be merely words on paper, but it should be comprehensive and should be suggested after discussing it and agreeing on it with the other parties.

? I wonder what are the reasons that push them to refuse my candidacy.

? The Syrian occupation of Lebanon came with the US green light and I paid the price for it. Later Lebanese received help with the Syrian withdrawal and this help was sought in application of UN resolution 520 that we have long called for, and we were the only ones to do so.

We support all the UN resolutions and we seek to implement a solution to the issue of the weapons of Hizbullah through a process in which not only the Lebanese people are involved, but also Israel, the UN and the international community as a whole. We have said that after the liberation of the Shebaa farms and the prisoners held by both sides, we can restore calm on the border and deal with the issue. Only trust among the Lebanese factions will enable them to solve this issue. The weapons should be dealt with by uprooting the causes for their existence. But of course, we first have to deter the Israeli threats - Israel has no right to violate air space all the time and is able to conduct a raid anytime against any target.
