General Aoun Lashes Out at Jumblat and Geagea


The head of the Free Patriotic Movement MP General Michel Aoun addressed a delegation from the Lebanese town of Ehmej and dismissed the government of Fouad Saniora as a corporate that only works for its interest.


Aoun said that there are some groups in Lebanon that are seeking to isolate other groups adding that the Christians in the country are being marginalized and their rights stolen. The General accused the February 14 political bloc of calling for discord and collision. "They call for disunity and everyone who distinguishes himself from them should be, according to them, sentenced to death. They do not mean political execution, but real execution. Their history is full of executions," Aoun said signaling MP Walid Jumblatt. He explained that calls for discord means destruction for two thirds of the Lebanese. The FPM chief asked MP Saad Hariri's Future Movement, Jumblatt's ally, if they are with division. "And we ask the Future Movement that represents the majority of Sunnis, do they agree with what Jumblatt and Samir Geagea (Lebanese Forces chief) call for?

General Michel Aoun ended his speech saying: Lebanon will not break loose. We are stronger that the will to dynamite the situation. Those who are seeking this will only burst themselves."

I need to hear one Sunni voice responding to Jumblatt and Geagea's policy. Is division part of the Future Movement and the Sunni's policy? They need to answer us quickly" the General said adding that silence by clerics at this specific time is suspicious. "We will not keep silent about anyone who chooses to remains silent in critical stages, just because they contradict with his political opinion." Aoun touched on the Hezbollah-FPM understanding saying "we had the courage to make an understanding with Hezbollah to reassure the people and to participate in decision making. He renewed his rejection to any foreign interference in Lebanese affairs, particularly the states that back the ruling bloc. "Any foreign policy that encourages the ruling bloc is accused of being a criminal state that seeks to kill the Lebanese people. This is rejected and we need to fight this," Aoun said, adding that "we will not accept division and we will not accept to be taken back to war, just to achieve their objectives."
