gaining weight??

ok.. here is my question...
i am a workout buff.. i go to the gym daily.. do cardio and weights... however in the last few months since ramadan I have gained weight... now.. its more than normal so i don't know whats going on.. the doc says maybe because I am stressed out and that is stopping me from losing the weight.. all of the weight gain is like in my middle.. like my abs and waist.. but i also eat good.. a lot of protein.. low carbs/calories... etc.. but i do have a few pieces of sweets here and there somedays...anyways so i don't know whats the deal!!!
Someone help!! before i look like a ladoo!!

I came in late, but In Ramzan, eating sucks. We eat all night then goto sleep...

If you do a good amount of cardio, your mid-section should melt away.

As far as your eating "sweets". It doesnt sound like u eat a lot but we all process "bad" foods differently. I know people who can eat anything and you would never know it. If I eat the least bit badly, it shows in all the wrong places...

Lay off the sweets!

No problem..That's exactly what I meant..all non supplemental,non-meal replacement foods.

Anyhow, along with eating the right foods, if you want to speed up your metabolism you should try to eat at least five meals a day. It just takes a lot of time and discipline. This may sound strange but I usually plan out my meals ahead of time. You may already know this but if you really wanna pig out, breakfast is the best time to do so cuz your metabolism is at it's highest at that time..

I think he means all non-meal replacement stuff. Yes, like real food meals.

i haven't read all of the previous comments but when it comes to abs, you definitley should switch up your workouts along with cardio. I think just like any other muscle, you shouldn't let your abs get used to one exercise.
Cardio and ab workouts work hand in hand. You could do a million crunches but without the cardio it's useless. You mentioned that you're pretty careful about what you eat. How many real meals do you eat a day?

Football: I used to do that but my diet is so routine now that I don't have to. It helps in the beginning but after you get used to it, you don't need to. I do track all my daily workouts however. I keep time, keep record of number of reps per set, etc.

Losing 3lbs. Alright back on track!

I try to keep a little snack near also. I like the Odwalla bars. Have you ever tried the goo? That is just plain nasty, but when you are looking for some really quick energy there is nothing better.

Effie, that reminds of one time when I passed out in the middle of the locker room. Since then, never again will i ever not have a quick energy boost nearby.

TO, Supergirl, do you all keep a food diary to make sure to stay on track?

I agree! I have seen a difference in my self as well within 2-3 weeks!

Footballfanatic: I hear ya bro. I'm in the same boat. First things first. Get your diet right. Take a week or 2 just to get into the routine of eating right. Once you get that going, hit the gym again. Once you hit the gym and you have already begun to eat right, you will not want to eat like crapp and wil feel so much better about yourself. I was feeling down on myself for like 6-8 weeks of not being in the gym and eating like crapp (since Ramadan started, I never got back into the routine). Byt now, its been 2 solid weeks back in the gym and I already feel and see the difference and have gained back my swagger! (H)

Get your diet right first and the rest will follow! Good luck.

Man, lots of advice on exercising with an empty stomach. I can't do that. I lose energy too quick during a workout. I want to try to maintain high energy levels through the workout. Has anyone else ever see the black "spots" after intense workouts and an empty stomach?

Hmm.... trying to lose the ole midrift.. Well, I'm in the same boat, but I'm just way too stressed out and can't hit the gym enough and not eating too healthy right now. I guess its the triple play here. I finally got a good solid run in yesterday.

I might try doing a quick workout in the morning before heading to work tomorrow.
