Free Concert Series at The Four Seasons Hotel
Welcome to the inaugural season of free concerts in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre.
From October to June, every Tuesday and Thursday (12 p.m.) and the first Wednesday of each month (5:30 p.m.), the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts opens its doors and invites the general public to share in the excitement of live performance in a beautiful and intimate new space.
Emerging artists* on the cusp of major international careers will take their place alongside stars of the world stage in an eclectic series of events ranging from classical concerts to world music, jazz and modern dance.
The diverse programs will celebrate significant anniversaries, with particular emphasis on the rich and varied body of music by Dmitri Shostakovich.
They will reach back to the early Renaissance and explore the full range of contemporary music?from the groundbreaking works of the Second Viennese School to the legendary composers of the later 20th century, right up to the most recent electroacoustic compositions by living Canadian and international composers?as well as sound worlds and rhythms from around the globe. They will explore the connection between words, movement and music and take you behind the scenes into the fascinating world of costumes, wigs, make-up and stage machinery.
The amphitheatre is home to a new Steinway concert grand?. The most brilliant young pianists from The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) will showcase this formidable instrument as well as their considerable technique and musicality with the great masterpieces of the 19th century virtuoso tradition, and some lesser known and rarely performed gems from the same period and beyond.
Whatever your background, whatever your interests, we hope you will join us frequently and be inspired, stimulated and challenged by our programs.
Hope to see everyone at the evening concerts! :D
