I was reviewing ocular trauma in Wills Eye Manual this morning and after reading about intraocular foreign bodies was curious, why are food and drinks restricted? and for how long? This is the only piece of literature I have come across that mentions no food/drink as part of treatment.

Just curious (the answer is probably obvious :( )...
